Continuing Education Units will be available
As part of our bioethics education initiative, CCA has been convening bi-monthly bioethics
case study meetings since November, 2013. From these case studies we have learned that many of the ethical dilemmas revolve around informed consent. Many times the patients and/or family members did not understand the possible consequences from a medical procedure or surgery and oftentimes a crisis arose because of this lack of understanding.
This workshop features
Dr. Marc Tunzi
Linda MacDonald Glenn
Dr Marc Tunzi, is the Associate Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program and Chair of the hospital's Ethics Committee at Natividad Medical Center. In addition to clinical training in Family Medicine, Dr. Tunzi has a Master's degree in Bioethics.
Linda MacDonald Glenn is an American bioethicist, healthcare educator, lecturer, consultant and attorney-at-law. Her academic research encompasses the legal, ethical, and social impact of emerging and exponential technologies and "evolving notions of personhood". She holds faculty appointments at California State University Monterey Bay and Albany Medical School.
The training will be followed by two case studies and will include a working lunch. As happens during each workshop, attendees will discuss case study topics in small, multi-disciplinary groups.
